St James Hospital Commit to Quit Campaign World No Smoking Day 31st May 2011

ST JAMES HOSPITAL COMMIT TO QUIT CAMPAIGN


St James hospital will be holding a health promotion campaign “Commit to Quit” in the main hospital reception on World No Tobacco Day 31st May 2011.

The stand is being organised and ran by the hospitals smoking cessation nurse specialist Carmel Doherty along with other hospital staff who play an active role in smoking cessation and support.

Smoking is the single most preventable cause of illness and disability and the aim of this stand is to raise awareness about the effects of smoking but also to provide advice and support about smoking cessation. The stand will incorporate:
• An ageing booth where one can see what they will look like at 72 years of age should they continue to smoke.
• There will be carbon monoxide checks
• Literature and contact details for many of the smoking cessation services will also be provided on the day.

All members of the public, staff and patients are welcome to visit the stand which will be on display from 10am until 3.30pm
