ASH Congratulates Minister Martin on Gold Medal Award

ASH Ireland wishes to congratulate Minister Michéal Martin on his receipt of the Gold Medal Award from the ‘Smoke Free Europe 2005’ Organisation in Luxembourg this afternoon. Minister Martin received this award for his outstanding leadership, during the introduction of the workplace smoking legislation in Ireland last year.

Minister Martin also addressed the 'Smoke Free Europe' Conference earlier today – as did Dr Shane Allwright of Trinity College and John Douglas, General Secretary of Mandate.

Professor Luke Clancy, Chairman of ASH Ireland said today, “Minister Martin deserves this award for his outstanding leadership and indeed that of the Government in creating a smoke free working environment for Irish workers. It’s so positive to see Ireland gaining recognition at international level for this outstanding health initiative.”
